Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar on Mycotoxins and Phycotoxins is a unique 2-day meeting for graduate students, post-docs, and other early-career scientists to come together in a highly-stimulating and non-intimidating environment to discuss their current research and exchange cutting-edge ideas with their peers.
This Seminar will focus on the discussion of unpublished research regarding emerging and recurring issues with the occurrence of fungal and algal toxins that affect population health and the environment. Topics covered will include but are not limited to expanding mycotoxin/phycotoxin distributions, their ecological and physiological significance, novel toxin identification and detection methods, new insights into their toxicology, and risk assessment and management.
A panel of well-known mycotoxins/phycotoxin researchers in different stages of their careers will lead a discussion of common research concerns, critical career decisions, and challenges associated with careers in academia, government, and industry. The casual setting characteristic of a GRS and evening social event will provide an ideal networking environment for both peers and mentors.
