Reducing Adverse Events and Improving Quality of Life through Design, Control and Management of Rotary Blood Pumps: Clinical and Engineering Approaches

The Gordon Research Seminar on Assisted Circulation is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The focus of this meeting is to present and discuss the latest research regarding the basis for adverse events secondary to ventricular assist device placement and advances in addressing them. Topics include but are not limited to: gastrointestinal bleeding, aortic regurgitation, right ventricular failure, infection, renal and hepatic dysfunction, as well as stroke while also concentrating on key components of patient satisfaction and quality of life including sexual function, driving, device portability and battery life. There are various travel fellowships available for students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows from around the world.
