Origins Of Solar Systems
July 8-13, 2007
Mount Holyoke College
South Hadley, MA
Chair:
Lee W. Hartmann

Vice Chair:
Sara S. Russell

The 2007 Gordon Research Conference on Origins of Solar Systems will be held at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA on 8-13 July. This unique interdisciplinary meeting includes astronomers and astrophysicists interested in star and planet formation, planetary scientists and meteoriticists interested in the early history of the Solar System, and plasma and life scientists. This meeting is much broader than most conferences and many fruitful research collaborations have been initiated at Gordon conferences enhanced by the relaxed pace of the meeting.

The 2007 conference, like the previous meetings in this series, will cover a wide range of topics ranging from astrophysical studies of protostellar collapse and protoplanetary disk evolution, to planet formation theories and problems of angular momentum transport and dynamical issues in planetesimal formation and migration, to meteoritic constraints on the history of the solar system, to the current status of studies of exoplanet systems. Special emphasis will be given to recent results from the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Stardust mission to Comet Wild 2.

The conference will continue the usual format of a mix of invited lectures and extended time for poster sessions. The meeting provides an excellent opportunity for young researchers to present their latest research results and to participate in the extensive discussions typical of a Gordon Conference. We encourage young scientists, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, to attend; we expect to be able to provide some financial support to facilitate their participation.
