This Gordon Conference focuses on the interface where theory and statistical physics meet cellular biophysics. What role does noise play in cell biology? How do stochastic processes and dynamics affect a cell’s internal structures and biochemical and genetic networks and circuitry? What are the trajectories that might contribute to cellular evolution? What is the nature of cellular networks? How do fluctuations affect biological bifurcations? We are interested in models and experiments for the transduction of signals and energy, motility and cell mechanics, diffusion dynamics inside crowded cells, and the balance between robustness and evolvability of cells. We see this GRC as a place to bring together statistical physicists, cell biologists, biophysical chemists, and applied mathematicians.
