Related Meeting Information
The Flow & Transport in Permeable Media Gordon Research Conference was held in conjunction with the Flow & Transport in Permeable Media Gordon Research Seminar. Please refer to the Flow & Transport in Permeable Media GRS web page for more information.

The 2012 Gordon Research Conference on "Flow & Transport in Permeable Media" will be a gathering of scientists who will present cutting-edge research on the fundamental processes governing flow, transport, reactive and thermal behavior of multiple fluids, fluid mixtures, chemicals, biological agents, particles and their complex interactions within different natural and artificial porous media environments and settings. In addition to the most recent advances made in the science, the latest developments in technologies for making observations as well as the mathematical tools and models needed to obtain insights and make predictions at different scales of interest will be presented. A diversity of multidisciplinary topics and applications of porous media science will be covered, ranging from circulation and storage of water in the earth system, climate change, sea level rise, environmental protection, conventional and alternate energy development and storage, subsurface CO2 injection and storage, biological and ecological systems, industrial and medical products and human health.

This Conference will provide a unique opportunity for early career scientists, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students to interact with prominent scientists at the forefront of their research fields and present their work in poster format. The interdisciplinary and collegial atmosphere of this Conference, with built in discussion sessions as well as opportunities for informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings, provides an avenue for the participants to brainstorm and promote cross-disciplinary collaborations in the various research areas and disciplines represented.

This Conference will follow a two-day Research Seminar on "Moving through Scales from Pore to Field Permeable Media Systems: Challenges and Knowledge Gaps" specifically designed for junior researchers and graduate students.
