About the Site
The village of Les Diablerets is situated about 70 miles (120km) east of Geneva, in the Alps of the Canton of Vaud at the eastern end of Lake Geneva.
The altitude of 1150m is ideal for summer months when usually the nights are cool and you can enjoy pleasantly warm days. However, in the mountains the weather conditions may temporarily deteriorate (rain, cooler) so be sure to bring some warm clothing.
The village is situated in the end of a valley, at the foot of the 3200m mountain/glacier also called Les Diablerets. Les Diablerets is a small village made out of chalet style buildings and is very nice without being a fancy place. It has a number of shops, restaurants, bars and there are ample opportunities for sport and hiking.
Arrival and Check-In
Any participants who wish to arrive early should contact the Eurotel directly to make necessary reservations (Phone: 41-24-492-3721 / Email:
lesdiablerets@eurotel-victoria.ch).
The Meeting Room and Poster Area
The meetings are held at the Les Diablerets Conference Center, which is about a 5 minute walk from the Eurotel and Hotel Les Sources.
The poster sessions are held at the main conference room in the Eurotel.
On-Site Housing / Facilities
Attendees stay at either the Eurotel or at Hotel Les Sources. Some of the single rooms are adjoined in an apartment style. These rooms have a single entrance from the corridor which leads to one sleeping room and a bathroom. Off that room is another door, with another sleeping room and bathroom. For those registered to stay in double (shared) rooms, please be aware that the beds are placed close together and cannot be separated. In case you feel uncomfortable with this, the hotel has brand new, comfortable sofa beds in each double room which can be made up as a separate bed.
There are 60 single rooms available for GRC attendees at the Les Diablerets Conference Center. Accepted applicants have an opportunity to register for a single room on a first come, first served basis. Once all available single rooms have been reserved, you will be required to register for a double (shared) room.
There is a laundry and ironing service available at the Eurotel. For security reasons, the hotel does not provide irons to guests. Les Diablerets does not have a laundromat; the closest facilities are in Aigle.
Dining Area / Meals
During your stay, you will have a big buffet breakfast in either Eurotel Victoria or Hôtel les Sources. During the morning session, a coffee break with fresh croissants will be available at the Conference Center. Afterwards, a 3-course lunch and a 3-course dinner will be served for all participants at Eurotel Victoria.
Kosher meals and Halal meals are not available and it will be impossible to find it in the village either. Please register in this case for Vegetarian food or for Vegetarian and fish only.
Internet, Phone and Computer Access
There is high speed WiFi throughout the Eurotel and in the conference center. Attendees are issued a user name and password for the hotel and for the conference center at GRC check-in. There are also two PCs and a printer at the Eurotel lobby available to use for free.
Handicapped Accessibility
The site is handicapped accessible.
On-Site Recreation
The hours for the Eurotel pool & fitness are 7-12 am and 1-9 pm, and the hours for the Eurotel sauna & sanarium are 4-9 pm.
