Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority Fellowship Information

The Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority Fellowship

This program was established by the GRC Board of Trustees to honor Director Emeritus Carl Storm's many years of service to GRC and to support his commitment to increasing diversity at the conferences. This fellowship program provides an opportunity for URM graduate students, postdocs, faculty and scientists to receive funding assistance to attend their first GRC.

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Graduate student, postdoc, faculty or research scientist
  • Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident with a Green Card
  • Currently working at a U.S. institution
  • Is attending a GRC for the first time

To apply for the CSURM fellowship, an applicant must first submit an online application to the GRC they wish to attend. Once the conference application is received, an acknowledgement will be sent that contains a link to the CSURM fellowship application. Applicants who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply for the fellowship early. Support is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis.  Final approval for a CSURM fellowship is contingent upon acceptance to attend the conference by the conference chair. All applications to participate in a particular GRC are reviewed and acceptances are made independent of this fellowship application. The information provided in the CSURM fellowship application will not be shared with the conference chair and will not affect your application to participate in the conference.
