Conference Description
The 2022 Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Chemical Separations brings together graduate students, post-docs, and other early-career scientists with comparable experience levels in the field. The seminar offers participants an exceptional environment to discuss their cutting-edge research, exchange ideas, initiate collaborations, and network with peers.
Our focus is to attract a diverse group of trainees working in the broad area of chemical separations for commodity and specialty chemicals, environmental science, and analytical chemistry. All selected attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the GRS by presenting a poster, giving an oral presentation, or serving as a discussion leader. In addition, the GRS participants will have the distinctive opportunity to interact with a select panel of established investigators and non-academic scientists during an organized career panel session to give attendees more insight into the potential career opportunities within the field of separation science. This two-day event will provide young scientists with the opportunity to explore the most up-to-date research and exchange ideas with other colleagues that would lead the chemical separation field in the coming decade.
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by July 3, 2022. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below. The detailed program will be available by August 2, 2022. Please check back for updates.
