Conference Description
The Chemistry and Biology of Tetrapyrroles GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The 2026 GRC will focus on areas of tetrapyrrole research including synthesis, chemistry, structural studies, medicine, disease and industrial applications. Invited speakers will present new and unpublished research on topics related to hemes, porphyrins, B12/corrins, bilins, and chlorophyll biology from multiple organisms. Additional speakers, including junior researchers and those new to the field, will be selected for short talks from submitted abstracts. In addition, there will be a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) consisting of a keynote presentation and selected graduate student and postdoc speakers. In both the GRS and GRC, there will be panel discussions from leaders in academia, government, and industry, together with opportunities for established and emerging scientists to interact and exchange ideas to build new and unique collaborations. We anticipate that the 2026 meeting will highlight new and emerging research on tetrapyrrole biology and provide a venue to establish new collaborations and partnerships.
The conference will consist of nine sessions, on the topics listed below. The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. The preliminary program will be available by October 15, 2025. Please check back for updates.
