Conference Description
The Epigenetic Regulation of Cardiovascular Disease GRS provides a unique forum for young doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to present their work, discuss new methods, cutting edge ideas, and pre-published data, as well as to build collaborative relationships with their peers. Experienced mentors and trainee moderators will facilitate active participation in scientific discussion to allow all attendees to be engaged participants rather than spectators.
Abnormalities in cardiac gene regulation represent a new axis of cardiovascular disease pathogenesis, and emerging research implicates the epigenomic machinery as a novel therapeutic target. Our 2023 GRS conference will present cutting-edge research on the cellular and molecular aspects underlying the epigenome regulation in cardiovascular disease. This inaugural meeting will be designed for the education and professional development of trainees and will precede the related GRC meeting. We are delighted to announce the keynote speaker for the GRS conference will be Prof Timothy McKinsey, who will take us on a journey through his career and accomplishments, encompassing research in academia and industry to his current post as Head of Translational Research for Cardiology at the University of Colorado. Selected talks and poster presentations will be given from early career researchers from submitted abstracts. Our conference will feature workshops on career development and diversity and inclusion awareness chaired by established scientists from both academia and industry. Our meeting will provide an avenue for young and senior scientists to brainstorm and promote cross-disciplinary collaborations in the field. The GRS in Epigenetic Regulation of Cardiovascular Disease will offer junior researchers an opportunity for specialist training and coaching, to share their latest data and connect with others working in the field, promoting continuity of this growing scientific field and establishing long-term global networks of scientists of tomorrow.
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by March 12, 2023. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below. The detailed program will be available by April 18, 2023. Please check back for updates.
