Conference Description
The Immunochemistry and Immunobiology GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The immune system plays a central role in organismal physiology and defense against pathogens and external stressors while its malfunctions are associated with a wide range of diseases. Recent decades of research in the field have shed light on the intricate molecular, cellular and tissue level mechanisms governing immunity. This new understanding, paired with deeper insights into the immune system's function across the entire spectrum of physiological and pathological settings, underscores the vast expanse of basic biology of the immune system and its integration with other fields of biology and medicine. The GRC on Immunochemistry and Immunobiology, a cherished forum since 1966, has been at the forefront of fostering collaborative discussions, presenting groundbreaking findings, and celebrating advancements across diverse immunological topics.
The 2024 GRC is comprised of nine sessions, with talks by approximately 30 established and early career researchers, encompassing immunology areas spanning diverse areas of immunology including molecular and cellular mechanisms of innate and adaptive immunity, host-pathogen interactions, neuroimmunology, and cancer immunology. Moreover, in our ongoing commitment to advancing immunology, this GRC conference prioritizes opportunities to recognize and nurture the next generation of talented immunologists. Additional oral presentations will be determined based on abstracts submitted by promising junior investigators. Augmenting this initiative, an exclusive Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) has been scheduled for graduate students and post-docs, during the weekend preceding the GRC. This presents an unparalleled opportunity for budding scientists to network, collaborate, and immerse themselves in the latest immunological discoveries.
The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include 9 sessions and the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. Please check back regularly for updates to this information.
