Lysosomes, and the endocytic and biosynthetic pathways that deliver proteins to these organelles, play key roles in the physiology of cells and organisms. Many inherited and somatic diseases result from defects in lysosomal and endocytic pathways. Many pathogens are destroyed by this pathway while others subvert this pathway during infection. The Lysosomes and Endocytosis Gordon Conference brings together leading researchers, both new and established, to present and discuss their latest results in these interleaved fields. Topics include: morphological, mechanistic and structural studies of the machinery responsible for endocytic and biosynthetic trafficking to lysosomes; inter-relationships between endocytosis, signal transduction, and the cytoskeleton; roles of the endocytic pathway in cell growth and organism development; biogenesis and disorders of lysosomes and lysosome-related organelles; mechanisms of pathogen entry.

The conference strives for full participation of all attendees to promote a highly interactive environment that fosters critical and productive discussion of current results, generation and dissemination of new ideas and approaches, and cross-fertilization between researchers working in different areas.
