Conference Description
The Physiology, Biology and Pathology of Phosphate GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes a diverse range of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Phosphate is an essential mineral that is required for cell and organ function. Altered phosphate balance contributes to a variety of diseases. Maintaining phosphate balance involves complex interaction between several organs, and endocrine and metabolic regulators. The Gordon Research Conference (GRC) and Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Physiology, Biology and Pathology of Phosphate focus on the latest advances in this field, integrating basic science and clinical relevance. The 2025 GRC is designed to attract a vibrant community of junior and established basic scientists, clinical researchers, and physicians, from across the world to facilitate opportunities for networking between diverse disciplines. We will discuss cutting-edge science and innovations on multiple exciting aspects of phosphate research. Among these, the conference program includes plenary sessions dedicated to the endocrine and local regulators of phosphate metabolism, the crosstalk between phosphate and iron metabolism, the importance of phosphate balance in skeletal health, and the impact of dietary phosphate on phosphate balance. We will discuss how these intersect in diseases associated with phosphate excess and deficiency, novel mechanisms of vascular and ectopic calcifications, and ongoing clinical trials and novel therapies that address phosphate disorders. Additionally, to gain a fresh perspective on the mechanisms of phosphate metabolism, we will learn from interesting studies performed in various different species. Finally, the program features a Power Hour session that addresses networking without borders, multiple poster sessions, and downtime for social activities and networking.
We welcome abstract submissions from all participants. Best ranking abstracts submitted prior to December 8th, 2024 will be integrated in plenary sessions as short oral presentations.
The conference will consist of nine sessions, on the topics listed below. The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. The preliminary program will be available by May 15, 2024. Please check back for updates.
