Conference Description
The Alcohol-Induced End Organ Diseases GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Alcohol misuse challenges biological systems at every level, driving progressive dysfunction across multiple organs through shared and interdependent mechanisms. This Gordon Research Conference will examine alcohol-induced end-organ diseases through a systems-level lens, emphasizing cross-organ communication, common pathways of injury, and recent advances in therapeutics and experimental approaches. Sessions will explore mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular aging, immune activation, inflammation, and microbiome–host interactions as unifying drivers of disease, while also highlighting organ-specific vulnerabilities and outcomes, including liver, gut, brain, cardiovascular systems, and alcohol-associated cancers. A central focus of the meeting will be the presentation of emerging therapeutic strategies, informed by advances in organoids, alternative model systems, and innovative experimental platforms that enhance mechanistic insight and translational relevance. The conference will also address the critical need for integrated and coordinated care, aligning treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) with management of alcohol-induced end-organ damage. By bringing together discoveries across biological scales and disciplines, this meeting aims to catalyze new frameworks for understanding disease complexity and accelerating therapeutic impact.
The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include 9 sessions and the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. The preliminary program will be available by June 10, 2026. Please check back for updates.
