The Gordon Research Seminar on Carotenoids is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.
The focus of this meeting is to explore the broad
spectrum of the carotenoid field, from basic to applied research. Topics of
interest include, but are not limited to: carotenoid biosynthesis and
regulation; carotenoids in photosynthesis and plastids, breeding and metabolic
engineering for human health; apocarotenoid biogenesis and functions;
pro-vitamin A biology, carotenoids and disease prevention and aging; and
carotenoids in vision and retinal health.
We are delighted to
announce the participation of two eminent leaders in the carotenoid field with
a particular focus on human health and nutrition. Dean DellaPenna (University
Distinguished Professor, Michigan State University) will deliver the keynote address
and Manfred Eggersdorfer (Senior Vice President Nutrition Science, DSM
Nutritional Products and Professor for Healthy Ageing, University of Groningen)
will be our career development speaker.
