Conference Description
The Cartilage Biology and Pathology GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
We are excited to announce the 2027 Cartilage Biology and Pathology GRC to be held in beautiful Il Ciocco, Italy. Established in 2003, this conference focuses on advancing research knowledge in the cartilage field via presentation of new innovative research from talented junior investigators and established scientists from around the world.
Cartilage is a fascinating, strong, and flexible connective tissue that serves essential roles in the body. It acts as a weight-bearing and shock-absorbing system in some joints and offers structural support to various organs. It is the earliest skeletal tissue that forms during mammalian development and is an essential component in the adult skeleton. Cartilage degeneration and malformation diseases affect the quality of life of millions of people worldwide, yet most remain untreatable. In this 2027 GRC, we will learn about recent advances in processes regulating cartilage tissue development, mechanobiology, metabolism, and crosstalk. Different types of cartilage tissues will be highlighted, including the intervertebral disc. We will also learn about cutting-edge approaches to treat cartilage disorders and where the field currently stands with respect to approaches to repair or regenerate cartilage.
We expect the 2027 GRC on Cartilage Biology and Pathology to inspire and empower researchers across disciplines to make significant progress towards understanding cartilage biology and improving health.
The topics, speakers, and discussion leaders for the conference sessions are displayed below. The conference chair is currently developing their detailed program, which will include the complete meeting schedule, as well as the talk titles for all speakers. The detailed program will be available by November 7, 2026. Please check back for updates.
