A New Era of Research on Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes: Their Reaction Mechanisms and Evolution

The Gordon Research Seminar on Cellulosomes, Cellulases & Other Carbohydrate Modifying Enzymes is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The focus of this meeting is to present cutting-edge research on the enzymatic degradation of cellulose and other plant cell wall components, featuring contributions on a range of topics including the enzymology related to biosynthesis and biodegradation of plant polysaccharides, metagenomic approaches for the study of cell wall-degrading organisms, structure-function relationships in Carbohydrate-Active enzymes, as well as advances in applications of these enzymes in the biofuel/biorefinery contexts. There will be academic mentors from a variety of diverse backgrounds in attendance at the meeting, in order to encourage the young scientist attendees to actively contribute to the attached GRC, where discussion of new results is key.
