Charting the Horizons of Interdisciplinary Research and Application in Water Disinfection, By-Products, Water Reuse and Public Health

The 2015 Gordon Research Conference on Drinking Water Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) will present cutting-edge research on the purification of water and the generation of disinfection by-products. With the era of pristine source waters ending, vitally important issues confront scientists, engineers, water utilities, industry groups and public health professionals in the production and delivery of high quality potable water. Increasing demands on scarce water sources, drought, water pollution and an aging water delivery infrastructure are preeminent challenges for society. The Conference will feature a wide range of topics including DBP formation, occurrence, toxicity and its molecular mechanisms, engineering solutions, health effects and regulation. Keeping with the spirit of the GRC, this high impact Conference will assemble scientists at the forefront of their field and will provide a venue for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career scientists to network, to learn and to plan future work together. A Gordon Research Seminar will expand the opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present their work and have it integrated into the general discussion of the Conference. Some poster presentations will be selected for short talks within program sessions. This Conference provides for session lectures with in depth discussions, program discussion sessions, poster presentations as well as for relaxed gatherings during the afternoons and evenings. A hallmark of the GRC is its informal and collegial atmosphere. This Conference will be a catalyst for scientists from different disciplines to gather, to converse, and to fully participate in the excitement of science in the promotion of interdisciplinary collaborations to devise future creative investigations and solutions to the global drinking water crisis.
