Leveraging Drug Carrier Design and Mechanistic Insight of Nanoparticle Therapeutics to Optimize Clinical Efficacy

The 2016 Gordon Research Seminar for Drug Carriers in Medicine and Biology is a forum for young researchers to present and exchange ideas pertaining to the field of drug delivery. Researchers from both academia and the biotech/pharmaceutical industries will have an opportunity to engage in stimulating scientific discussions that bridge a variety of disciplines including material science, cancer therapy and immunology. The Drug Carriers GRS aims to bring scientists at a similar point in their careers together to build professional networks and meaningful scientific collaborations.

This meeting focuses on the synthesis, scale-up and characterization of therapeutic nanoparticles; the biochemical and biophysical interactions between drug carriers and cells; the critical evaluation of in vivo drug delivery efficacy; and the advances in understanding the immune system's role in nanomedicine. The overarching theme will explore how findings from different sub-fields of drug delivery (e.g., basic science, engineering and clinical) can guide the broader field towards the clinical translation of nanomedicines.
