The Gordon Research Seminar on Ecological and Evolutionary Genomics aims to attract graduate students, post-docs and early career scientists to facilitate scientific dialogue with other researchers at similar career stages. Participants will present their novel studies, exchange cutting-edge ideas and gain experience presenting at an international conference in a supportive environment. In addition, the meeting will also include a mentorship panel that provides opportunity for the participants to interact with leading scientists from academic and industrial backgrounds.
Genome sequencing is becoming cheaper and more powerful and is an invaluable tool for answering important questions in many fields of scientific endeavour. The current generation of scientists interested in evolution and ecology have been fortunate to start their career immersed in this technology. They are in an ideal position to exploit these revolutionary genomics tools to understand genetic mechanisms underlying the processes affecting the ability of organisms to generate novel phenotypes, adapt to environmental conditions and affect the function of an ecosystem. The aim of this GRS is to ensure that you, as a member of this community, are up to date with the latest scientific discoveries in the field, are well networked and have the necessary skills to advance your career.
Co-chairs, Mark Leaver (Technische Universität Dresden) and Sangeet Lamichhaney (Harvard University) invite you to Southern New Hampshire University. We are looking forward to meeting you.
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by April 13, 2019. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
