The Malaria GRC is a premier meeting in the field of Malaria Research. This years meeting takes place at a particularly exciting time: following a period of increased international focus and advocacy, global investment in malaria control is rising and there is increased optimism about the possibility of real impact on the global malaria burden. At the same time the history of malaria control cautions that we will need a continued emphasis on both basic and operational research, and the development of new approaches, if any gains achieved are to be maintained. The emphasis of the meeting will be on understanding the clinical and epidemiological aspects of malaria and on the ways in which malaria can be controlled and even defeated. Invited speakers and discussion leaders will present recent ground-breaking findings. New developments will also be featured through the use of featured poster sessions. The meeting will be highly interactive with the opportunity for researchers at all stages of their career to share experiences and debate with international leaders in the field. A particular emphasis of the conference will be ensuring the active participation of researchers from malaria endemic countries.
