Conference Description
The Mitochondria in Health and Disease GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Building on this tradition, the Mitochondria in Health and Disease GRC will highlight emerging concepts that redefine our understanding of mitochondrial biology across scales, from molecular mechanisms and structural organization to cellular adaptation, tissue physiology, and organismal health. Particular emphasis will be placed on unpublished findings and innovative methodologies that challenge existing paradigms and open new research directions. The program will integrate fundamental mitochondrial biology with translational and disease-oriented perspectives, fostering dialogue between basic scientists, clinician-scientists, and technology developers. Sessions will explore how mitochondrial function is dynamically regulated in diverse contexts, including development, aging, metabolic remodeling, immune responses, and cancer, while also addressing mitochondrial communication with other organelles and its systemic impact.
By combining high-level scientific exchange with extended discussion periods and informal interactions, the Mitochondria in Health and Disease GRC aims to catalyze new collaborations, inspire innovative research trajectories, and strengthen the global mitochondrial research community.
The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include 9 sessions and the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. The preliminary program will be available by August 5, 2026. Please check back for updates.
