New Frontiers in Gas Hydrate Behavior at the Macro- and Micro-Scales

The Gordon Research Seminar on Natural Gas Hydrate Systems is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas.

The 2016 Seminar will deliver a leading discussion on the production of conventional and unconventional resource production, from the perspective of the interface between fluids and solids. This Seminar will explore the connection between macroscopic systems and a variety of microscopic phenomena, including nucleation, film growth, wettability, crystal morphology, porosity and microstructure, hydrate adhesion properties, and fluid flow. Through a deeper understanding of the energy bound between interfaces in hydrate systems, the Seminar will further develop connections between these interfacial behaviors and a broad array of macroscopic phenomena observed in pipeline flow and naturally-occurring hydrated sediment, which might include slope stability, seabed microbiology, and production. Attendees at the Seminar are strongly encouraged to register for the corresponding Gordon Research Conference, where the connectivity between interfacial phenomena and energy resources will be further explored.
