Conference Description
The Neutron Scattering GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
The use of neutrons for materials science discovery has been imperative in advancing societal and technical challenges. In particular, neutron scattering is a powerful and versatile technique used to probe the structure and dynamics of materials at the atomic and molecular scale. The unique properties of the neutron offers information that other techniques might miss due to the neutron’s unique interaction with matter. The Neutron Scattering GRC will highlight the latest advances in scientific domains as diverse as advanced energy materials and biological macromolecules. In recent years there have been vast improvements in neutron scattering instrumentation with novel beam transport and detection technologies in conjunction with sample environments that enable operando, real sample, and time dependent experiments. These developments, in combination with the introduction of artificial intelligence, will provide a paradigm shift in scientific advances through neutron scattering. The Neutron Scattering GRC will showcase cutting-edge technical advancements as the foundation of groundbreaking scientific discoveries. The neutron scattering community has experienced significant growth, particularly in Asia and Oceania, including Australia. Upgraded and new neutron scattering facilities are now envisaged worldwide. The Neutron Scattering GRC will enable the exchange of ideas and opportunities amongst these different neutron global communities. It will provide an excellent opportunity to share the latest scientific and technical breakthroughs while fostering collaborations that will strengthen and advance our international and interdisciplinary neutron scattering community.
