Advancing the Future Through Fundamental Discoveries

Organometallic Chemistry is one of the most dynamic and versatile areas of chemistry. The importance of this field to modern society is highlighted by the recent awarding of three Nobel Prizes in Chemistry (2001, 2005, 2010) to nine organometallic chemists over the span of a single decade. Solutions to many of the major challenges faced in the 21st century - the development of sustainable energy solutions, the production of more effective therapeutics, the mitigation of climate change, the generation of industrial feedstocks, remediation of the environment, and the synthesis of new materials ranging from novel polymers to nanomaterials - will undoubtedly rely on advances made in the field of organometallic chemistry. The 2014 Organometallic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference will emphasize cutting edge developments in basic science and applications that address societal needs.

As the flagship meeting of the field of organometallic chemistry in the United States, this conference will provide a venue for defining and discussing relevant technological issues in a collegial environment, and will serve as a catalyst to promote new interdisciplinary collaborations. Participants will include a diverse array of scientists at the forefront of their fields from the US and abroad, ranging from senior investigators to junior scientists and graduate students from academic, industrial, and national laboratory settings. All participants are strongly encouraged to contribute to the conference by presenting a poster during one of the afternoon/evening poster sessions. Participants will be afforded the opportunity to have their poster considered for one of six 15-minute oral presentations. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows should also consider participating in the Gordon Research Seminar on Organometallic Chemistry (July 5-6, same location) that is specially designed to promote interaction and discussion among junior scientists.
