Conference Description
The Organometallic Chemistry GRC is a premier, international scientific conference focused on advancing the frontiers of science through the presentation of cutting-edge and unpublished research, prioritizing time for discussion after each talk and fostering informal interactions among scientists of all career stages. The conference program includes an array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide, concentrating on the latest developments in the field. The conference is five days long and held in a remote location to increase the sense of camaraderie and create scientific communities, with lasting collaborations and friendships. In addition to premier talks, the conference has designated time for poster sessions from individuals of all career stages, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking opportunities with leaders in the field.
Organometallic chemistry is the foundational discipline for the synthesis, study and exploitation of the reactivity and properties of organo-transition-metal and organo-main-group compounds. The 2026 Organometallic Chemistry GRC seeks to bring an international grouping of academic, national laboratory and industrial scientists to discuss major breakthroughs, new ideas and new applications for organometallic compounds from a distinctly multidisciplinary perspective. The conference will focus on novel concepts surrounding the fundamental synthesis, structure and bonding of transition-metal and main-group compounds, the use of organometallic compounds to effect catalytic reactions of relevance to synthetic organic chemistry and polymer formation, and applications and use of organometallic and organo-main group compounds in the design and preparation of new materials relevant to important industrial sectors such as microelectronics and battery technology. The overarching theme of the 2026 Organometallic Chemistry GRC is to provide an interface and convergence between the most fundamental new approaches and ideas within the field, with emergent technological applications. The conference program also seeks to build bridges between diverse scientific areas, with organometallic chemistry serving as a unifying discipline that can positively contribute to the most pressing 21st century challenges. The 2026 conference program will bring together a diverse group of established leaders, early-career investigators and cadre of scientists pushing the forefront of the field in industrial settings.
The collegial and welcoming environment of the Organometallic Chemistry GRC is suited for scientists at all career stages. All participants are strongly encouraged to support the conference objectives of substantive participation through full attendance and the presentation of a poster highlighting recent work. The conference will consist of morning and evening sessions for research presentations, mid-day free time and afternoon/evening poster sessions. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also strongly encouraged to consider attending the Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Organometallic Chemistry (July 11-12, same location) that is geared toward promoting interaction and discussion among junior scientists.
The conference will consist of nine sessions, on the topics listed below. The conference chair is currently developing their preliminary program, which will include the names of the invited speakers and discussion leaders for each of these sessions. The preliminary program will be available by October 15, 2025. Please check back for updates.
