Plant Metabolic Engineering is an emerging field that integrates a diverse range of disciplines including plant genetics, genomics, biochemistry, chemistry and cell biology. The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) in Plant Metabolic Engineering was initiated to provide a unique opportunity for future researcher leaders to present their work in this field. It also creates an environment allowing for peer-review and critical assessment of work without the intimidation usually associated with the presence of senior investigators. The GRS immediately precedes the Plant Metabolic Engineering Gordon Research Conference and will be for and by graduate students and post-docs, with the assistance of the organizers listed below.

We expect 30-45 graduate students/postdoc participants, most of which (ideally all) are expected to stay for the GRC that follows. Acceptance will be based on completion of an official GRS application form and submission of a one-page research abstract. The organizing committee will choose speakers for talks from the abstracts, ensuring an appropriate range of research topics and a cogent and cohesive program. To facilitate discussions and interactions, all participants, including selected speakers, are expected to present posters as well. We hope to have financial resources to help offset the registration and some travel costs for all the GRS participants.
