This conference will include much of interest to bioinorganic chemists. The general subject matter concerns the roles of redox-active amino acids (e.g., tyrosine, tryptophan, cysteine) and quinone cofactors in biological catalysis and electron transfer. Talks on copper-containing amine oxidases, galactose oxidase, ribonucleotide reductase, prostaglandin synthase (a heme enzyme) and other metalloenzyme are included in the program. Another subject that will be covered is radical or metal-mediated damage to proteins. Harry Gray has agreed to give a Thursday evening talk on biological electron transfer, which will also be a central theme of other presentations.
