The 2012 Gordon Conference on Research at High Pressure, and its associated Gordon Research Seminar, will present cutting-edge research on the behavior of solids and liquids at extremes of pressure and temperature. The Conference will feature a wide range of topics, studied using both static and dynamic compression methods and state-of-the-art computational methods, including dense hydrogen, mineralogy and planetary science, simple molecules and elements; chemistry and biology. Invited speakers represent a variety of scientific disciplines; earth science, physics, chemistry and materials science. The Conference will bring together a collection of investigators who are at the forefront of their field, and will provide opportunities for junior scientists and graduate students to present their work both at the preceding Gordon Research Seminar and in poster format and exchange ideas with leaders in the field. Some poster presenters will be selected for short talks. The collegial atmosphere of this Conference, with programmed discussion sessions as well as opportunities for informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings, provides an avenue for scientists from different disciplines to brainstorm and promotes cross-disciplinary collaborations in the various research areas represented.

For the first time, the 2012 GRC will have an associated Gordon Research Seminar organized specifically for graduate students and postdocs.
