Modern Stereochemistry in Synthesis, Catalysis, and Chemical Biology

The core of the 2014 Gordon Research Conference on Stereochemistry will be asymmetric catalysis and stereoselective synthesis, with bridging highlights to chemical biology. Presentations on asymmetric catalysis will include the design, study, and applications of organometallic catalysts and organocatalyts. Presentations on stereoselective syntheses will include natural products and pharmaceuticals, the latter on both lab and manufacturing scales. The bridging highlights to chemical biology will include enzymology, surface chemistry, sensors, and materials. All of these fields are related in that stereochemistry is key to activity and selectivity, but different in that their systems involve organometallic catalysts, organocatalysts, organic synthesis, enzymes, viruses, and sensors. Bringing together scientists from these related fields will link scientific information and scientists in new ways, ideally promoting new networks of scientists. The 2014 conference will include 29 speakers divided into nine sessions. There will also be two poster sessions for attendees to share their chemistry, and informal discussions will be fostered during the afternoons and after the evening lectures.
