Conference Description
The Gordon Research Seminar on Protein Processing, Trafficking and Secretion is a unique opportunity for graduate students, post-docs and other scientists of comparable levels of experience and education to share and discuss new data and ideas.
The central topic of this meeting will be the cellular and molecular processes of the secretory pathway with a focus on the regulation of protein trafficking. In particular, the meeting will address the birth, maturation and transport of cargoes, including the role of lipid signaling and lipid metabolism in membrane dynamics. The main objectives are to expose scientific questions and technical challenges that confront the field and to offer an introduction to new and powerful technology available to address these challenges.
The seminar will include both a keynote lecture and a mentoring session led by leading scientists in the public and private sector to provide guidance for the next generation of research scientists.
Application Instructions
The seminar will feature approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS, either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract.
The seminar chair will select speakers from abstracts submitted by April 17, 2022. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by the date indicated in the Application Information section above.
Program Format
Gordon Research Seminars are 2-day meetings which take place on the Saturday and Sunday just prior to the start of the associated GRC. The GRS opens with a 1-hour introductory session on Saturday afternoon, followed by a poster session, dinner and a 2-hour session in the evening. Sunday morning begins with breakfast and is followed by another 2-hour session, a second poster session, and lunch. A final 1-hour session takes place just after lunch, and the associated GRC begins later that evening.
An outline of the program components for this GRS is displayed below. The seminar chair is currently developing their detailed program schedule, which will include the speakers they select from submitted abstracts, in addition to any additional components outlined below. The detailed program will be available by May 17, 2022. Please check back for updates.
